I’ve never used Self-storage before. How does it work?

Don’t worry, it’s simple to store with us! At Kuboo we understand that moving and storing is always a stressful time, we’ve done it ourselves many times, so we’ve streamlined the whole process to make it as comfortable and as fast as possible, relieving you from most of the stress that comes with it, in the friendliest way.

You can either call us or you can simply come by our store and we will pair you with a storage solution that fits your needs and budget. Quickly and efficiently.

Do you have a unit to suit my needs?

We have plenty of size options. From 1 square meter to 30 square meters.

Give us a call or send us an email and we will secure the storage unit that works best for you. And don’t worry, when you arrive at Kuboo, if your unit isn’t just right, we will make sure you get a unit that fits exactly your needs.

You can also change units when your needs change. Go for a larger or smaller unit. No problem! We’ll make your switch easy and fast.

How do I know what size I need?

To give you an idea, we have a simple to read Size Calculator on our website. But to be certain, pass by the store and it will be our pleasure to show you different sizes and find the right fit.

How easy is it and how long does it take to rent a unit?

It’s very easy to rent a unit at Kuboo. We’ve streamlined the process to make your rental easy, simple and fast. In less than 10 minutes we will have your unit and paperwork ready for you, and you can move in.

Will my items be safe?

Yes! Absolutely! Securing your items is our number one priority. We’ve invested in and implemented the highest standards in the European Union. A 4-level security apparatus. Our features include 24hr manned security, gated access, CCTV cameras and personalised security codes, as well as individual alarms for each unit.

What will you charge me for?

Our rental agreements are short-term and flexible, meaning you’ll never be locked-in if your plans change.

Like apartment rentals, you pay only the first month and a one month equivalent guarantee that we will refund you on your move-out when you close your contract, given that your unit is in the same condition as when you took possession of it and that there’s no outstanding balance.

What are the prices of the units?

The prices of our units vary with availability and size. The best way to find out the price of a particular unit is either to call us, email us or simply drop by our facility. We have great Portuguese coffee!

Do I need Insurance? What kind of coverage do you offer?

Despite all the efforts put in our facility in regards to safety and security, it is always best that you take on an insurance. Just like at home.

Every unit you rent comes already with a free 3,000 euro insurance offered by Kuboo. If your goods are of a higher value, you should top it off by adding what you need, up to 50,000 euros.

Practically, you can either extend your home insurance to your storage space at Kuboo, shop for your own private insurance, or take the one that we offer conveniently at a competitive price.

Our prices for insurance are competitive and our insurance, backed by Tranquilidade, is solid and covers most of your needs. It goes by chunks of 1,000 euros of goods insured for 1 euro per month.

If you choose to use our insurance, it will be set-up when you sign your rental contract, before you move into your storage unit. It can also be taken or adjusted throughout the duration of your stay, according to your needs. No problem.

How easy is your access, and do you have convenient parking?

It’s much easier than a home! Kuboo is within a safe park that’s off the street. We have 12 easy and safe parking spots for our clients, so you don’t have to park on the street; and 3 loading bays, for cars and trucks alike. Our loading bays are large, easily accessible, secure and very well lit. They are also covered, so it will never rain on you, your movers or your belongings.

I need to change the size of my Unit. What should I do?

The best way to make sure the unit you want to move into fits your needs, is to pass by Kuboo and we will show it to you along with other similar sizes so you can compare and choose. Once you’ve approved it, we will take care of the paperwork and all you have to do is move to the new unit that you chose. You can move to a larger or to a smaller unit at any moment. You don’t have to wait until the end of the month or of your contract. Flexibility is one of our advantages.

I don’t remember my access code or my unit’s number

No problem! Just get in touch with us and you’ll be all set. For security reasons and to protect your belongings, our staff will have to validate your identity before giving you the code.

What do I need to do when I want to move out?

You can move out at any time, you just need to give us a 15 day written notice by email or otherwise before the end of the month. This ensures you don’t get charged another month’s rent.

Please leave the unit in the same condition as when you rented it, clean and undamaged,  and return the lock and the 3 keys.

If you have given us the required written notice but leave the lock on the door on the 1st day of the month, we will presume you have changed your mind and need to continue your storage and we will continue to charge you for your storage usage until you notify us again.

How do I get to Kuboo?

How long is a rental contract?

Rental contracts are on a monthly basis, with a minimum of one month.

Do I have to pay VAT on top of the rental price?

No. Like an apartment rental, we don’t charge VAT on top of our prices.

I need to reserve a unit. What are the next steps?

Easy! Give us a call and we will gladly do it for you. Reserving a unit is free of charge. You can also just drop by during our extensive opening hours (Weekdays from 8:00 to 22:00 – Week-ends from 9:00 to 20:00) and we will be more than happy to make it simple and friendly, and to show you the unit before you book it.

What’s the difference between Kuboo and other storage facilities in Portugal? Why should I store with you?

Who has the key to my unit? Can I allow other people to access my unit?

You are the only one to have the keys to your unit. Kuboo doesn’t have access to its Client’s units, nor do we keep a copy of your keys.

And yes you can set up as many or as few people as you require to have access to your unit. They need to be named on your account and you will have to give them your access codes and key.

How do I pay for my unit? And how often?

We like to keep this also as simple as possible. You pay each month, like a home rental. It can be done in person during our office hours (Weekdays from 8:00 to 22:00 – Week-ends from 9:00 to 20:00) or when you are visiting your unit. You can also pay online with the code included on your invoice, by bank transfer, credit card, or through pre-authorized payment. This last option is used by most clients because it’s the most practical and hassle-free.

Our contracts are monthly and rent is due on the first day of each month. You have until the 8th of each month to pay your rent. Late fees may apply if we don’t receive your payment on time. That’s also why pre-authorized payment is the best option.

What can I and cannot store?

You can store practically everything you need to store at Kuboo, except:

Food or perishable goods;

Plants, birds, fish, animals or any other creature dead or alive;

Any illegal substances, illegal items or goods illegally obtained, including counterfeit goods, illicit (smuggled/counterfeit) tobacco, illicit alcohol or drugs, unlicensed medicines and unsafe goods;

Any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour, including paints, solvents or oil;

Compressed non-flammable gases;

Combustible, flammable, explosive or oxidising materials;

Liquids or gases such as petrol, gas cylinders, cellulose nitrate film;

Tires, asbestos, fireworks, firearms, weapons, ammunition, explosives or the components thereof;

Waste materials including any materials or goods for export deemed to be waste e.g. used electrical equipment (unless tested and certified for re-use), used vehicles or parts thereof;

Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents;

Pollutants, toxic or hazardous materials, contaminated goods or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature;

Any item of high value requiring specialist storage –including without limitation jewellery, money, bullion, deeds, bonds, securities, stamps, antiques, fine art or fine wines.

What if I need to get to my unit when the office is closed?

Need to access your storage unit after-hours? No problem!

Access to our Carnaxide facility is available 24/7 for a small one-time fee (in order to limit night access only to our customers for whom it’s necessary). Sign-up with us to have unlimited access to your unit. Just let us know you require this option at the time of signing your contract or at any moment after that.

Can I buy packing, moving, or storage supplies?

Yes! We’re here to help make your moving experience as easy and as convenient as possible. We have great quality packing and moving supplies for sale at competitive prices, including things like boxes, bubble wrap, tape, paper wraps, furniture covers, cutters, markers and more.

What happens if I lose my keys?

If you lose all 3 of your keys, we will have to use the services of a locksmith to break the lock on your unit. We will then replace your lock and keys with a new set. There’s a 35 euros fee associated with this whole operation.
